Ok, so those who know me know that I'm a lazy crafter. I hate having to wait till I have money to buy the proper supplies or waiting till I have time or someone to teach me things. USUALLY that results in sub-par crafts, but occasionally, it makes me feel like a GENIUS!!!!!
My latest example of this is a pennat banner. I had made a super cute banner on my sister's cricut, but I used crappy adhesive, so it fell apart, then my kids got to it, so it's pretty much unusable now. I was not, however, about to have NO Halloween banner, so I started cutting out triangles to use in a pennant banner. Once they were cut I couldn't sit still, so I figured a way to finish the thing and I love it!! Here is my Halloween banner:
So I made a tutorial to make your own!!
First, you'll need:
Step 1: Trace an EQUILATERAL triangle- one for each pennant. Be sure to use your straightedge.
Step 2: Cut out all the triangles
Step 3: Iron all pennants
Step 4: Cut out your letter pattern (I find a font I like and use PSE to make it the size I want, then print it). Once it's cut out, flip it over
Step 5. Trace all letters on the solid linen or cotton BACKWARDS
Step 6: Cut out the letters and flip them back around to the proper direction
Step 7: Use the paintbrush to paint tacky glue onto the back of the letter, gluing it onto the pennant.
Step 8: Here is one part where you get to be creative. Trace the letter to make it stand out. This time I used permanent marker in black, you can use any colors you want. On my Halloween banner, I used puff paints, three layers of it. You could also use acrylic paints, glue little gems on... whatever floats your boat
Step 9: Layer the finished pennants overlapping corners. Cut a ribbon long enough to cover all pennants and then long enough to hang. Line the ribbon so it matches the top edge of the pennants.
Step 10: Use brads to attach the ribbon and the pennants. On this particular banner, I also added flowers to some of the brads.
Tada!!
